Remember and Honor
the 13 Longswamp area men who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.

Longswamp Union Cemetery:  Ints. of State St., Hidden Valley Rd. and Church St, Mertztown

St. Paul's Union Cemetery:  Int. of Chestnut Street and Valley Road, Mertztown

Hoch Memorial:  So. Home Avenue (across from the Topton post office (33 S. Home Avenue)

(Image):  Clair Shurr grew up in the Lutheran Orphan’s Home (now Lutheran Home at Topton). He died aboard the 
​USS Rednour on May 27, 1945, when a Kamikaze plane crashed into the stern of the ship near
Okinawa, Japan. He was 17 years old. 


Sign holders will be posted near to the cemetery parking areas to indicate the approximate location of each grave; a sign holders posted at each grave/memorial shares information about the man who gave his life for freedom.

Museum Open House 
​
The Schubert Haus, our museum space, which is located at 32 Church Street, (across from the Longswamp Union Cemetery) preserves and exhibits Longswamp area artifacts.

Entrance to the museum is free to the public.
Parking is permitted on Church Street. You can also park in Longswamp UCC lots.

SwampFest

Longswamp Community Park, 1112 State Street, Mertztown, Pa.

Mark your calendars and plan to attend Swampfest, an annual community celebration of food, games, music, and fun.  Free admission all day. We'll share details as soon as the information is available.

Longswamp Township Historical Society will be raising funds through the sale of a variety of desserts between
1:30 PM to 6:00 PM. ​Our "Village" series booklets, discounted 2022 calendar (now just $5) "Family Favorite Recipes," and other items will be available for purchase.
