Village of Farmington
The village of Farmington, as well as the villages of Klines Corner and Oreville and the area once known as the Butza Gass (also covered in this booklet), lie in the northernmost region of the township—both farms and iron ore mines were once plentiful and much of the land in this area is still devoted to farming. Farmington lies near to the border between Longswamp Township and Maxatawny Township (to the west) and Lehigh County (to the east). Oreville is located along Old Topton Road between Ringtown and Klines Corner. Klines Corner, first known as Schweyer’s Crossing, lies north of the borough of Topton. The Catasauqua and Fogelsville Railroad ran a spur to service these areas and collect ore mined there. The Butza Gass (Butz’s Valley) lies along the length of Mertztown Road, between Valley Road in Longswamp Township and Hilltop Road in Lower Macungie Township.
