The village of Henningsville (and adjacent village of Pilgerts) are located in the southwestern part of Longswamp Township. Henningsville is located at the intersection of Woodside Avenue and Greiss Street. Pilgerts, nestled along Pilgert Street, lies between Mary Ann Drive and Centennial Road. Pilgerts is named for the multi-generational family that lived in this area. The Mary Ann Furnace (Trexler’s Furnace) is located in Pilgerts. (We chose to document this business in our “Lower Longswamp” booklet because of its strong connection to the furnace’s multiple ironmasters, all of which lived in Lower Longswamp). Early stone cairns of unknown origin are also found in this area in multiple locations.
